46th IEEE Real-Time Systems Symposium – Brief Presentations Track (RTSS 2025 BP) – Call for Contributions
The RTSS 2025 Brief Presentations (BP) Track provides a platform for researchers to present their work in progress, announce relevant publications from journals or other sources that are of interest to the real-time systems community, and showcase demonstrations of prototypes, tools, simulators, or systems that advance the state of the art in technologies and techniques for real-time systems.
In the RTSS’25 BP track, we welcome three types of submissions:
- Work-in-Progress (WiP) papers;
- Work-Already-Published (WAP) papers (a.k.a. journal papers not yet presented); and
- RTSS@Work demonstrations and experience reports.
The BP track shares the technical scope with RTSS 2025 — please refer to the RTSS 2025 call for papers for details (https://2025.rtss.org/call-for-papers/index.html).
The BP track will take place during the main conference.
Work-in-Progress (WiP) Papers
WiP submissions should focus on ongoing, unpublished work that discusses evolving and early-stage ideas, explores new research directions, and highlights current trends in the field. Acceptance of these submissions will be based on their originality, quality, significance, and relevance to RTSS. WiP submissions should be in the form of short papers, limited to a maximum of 4 pages in IEEE conference format.
Accepted WiP papers will be included in the main RTSS proceedings, which will be published by IEEE.
Work-Already-Published (WAP) Papers
WAP submissions should consist of an extended abstract, limited to a maximum of 2 pages, of a previously published paper. The abstract should explain the relevance of the work to RTSS and include clear references to the original publication being summarized.
The purpose of the WAP presentations in the BP session is to raise awareness of work that has recently been published elsewhere and may not yet be widely known to RTSS participants. Additionally, the track aims to highlight recent contributions to the real-time systems community that have appeared in journals without having been previously presented at a conference.
For a paper to qualify for presentation as a WAP, it must meet the following criteria:
-
The paper should be recent and should have been published in a journal related to real-time systems.
-
The paper should not have been presented at another conference before.
Accepted WAP papers will not appear in any printed form at the conference since they have already been published elsewhere.
RTSS@Work Demos and Experience Reports
At RTSS 2025, the BP track incorporates the RTSS@Work open demo session, which has traditionally been a standalone track of the conference.
The goal of RTSS@Work is to provide a platform for researchers to present prototypes, tools, simulators, and systems that extend the state-of-the-art of technologies and techniques for real-time systems. This session will augment the traditional forum by enabling presenters to demonstrate working systems, thereby allowing them to directly engage with the audience, generate interest in new research topics, and encourage wider adoption of common frameworks. Additionally, the RTSS@Work track also welcomes brief experience reports and reports on best practices in the field and for experiments.
RTSS@Work welcomes demonstrations showcasing high-quality original work in all areas of real-time systems, including but not limited to operating systems, networks, middleware, scheduling, formal methods, security, tools, compilers, modeling, QoS support, resource management, testing and debugging, hardware/software co-design, fault tolerance, power, and thermal management, embedded platforms, and system experimentation and deployment experiences.
Authors are invited to submit a 1- or -2-page summary of the demo or experience report. The program committee will evaluate the summaries and formally invite the authors of the selected demos and reports.
RTSS@Work contributions will consist of two parts:
-
a short presentation during the BP session where each participant can present a few slides, followed by
-
an exhibit in the demonstration and poster session where participants can display their work and discuss it with the attendees.
Accepted RTSS@Work contributions will not be included in the main RTSS proceedings (published by IEEE). Instead, a separate booklet containing all RTSS@Work contributions will be made available on the conference website.
